The national master plan for the metro system area in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area focuses on developing an advanced public transportation system, including three lines with a total length of approximately 145 km and 109 stations. The metro is expected to serve about 450 million trips per year, with an estimated project cost of 200 billion shekels. The plan aims to integrate the metro with urban planning to create quality urban environments that promote public transportation.
TAMA 70, which promotes development around metro stations and maintenance complexes, will include guidelines for dense construction, mixed-use, and enhanced connectivity with other transportation means. The plan will focus on defining development areas around the stations while setting guidelines for construction above the depot complexes.
It is estimated that the plan will allow for the issuance of building permits and will influence land uses in the metro areas. The National Council for Planning and Building is working to promote the plan in collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the success of the metro and its impact on the urban space.
