The Planning Administration in Israel is working on developing a new system for verifying building permit applications, based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Architect Yashi Saar, senior department head at the administration, revealed the information during an engineering forum, emphasizing that the system will replace existing systems and improve the licensing process through a BIM model. The system is currently in a pilot phase with three local authorities, aiming to streamline the licensing process. Saar also mentioned that new regulations regarding building structure planning will soon be up for discussion, which are expected to improve the organization of the planning process.
During the event, other senior officials in the industrialized construction sector discussed the need for early preparation in planning to avoid delays. Engineer Yoni Ofek from the Ministry of Construction and Housing highlighted the challenges and steps to promote innovation in the sector, including the establishment of a smart construction community. Saar agreed with the criticism of the control institutes and emphasized the need to improve the control process to ease the work of developers.
